Morning tour with Daisey's Island Cruises. Our captain, Nate, has lived on Chincoteague his whole life and his family has been here since the early 1800's. He was very knowledgeable.
It was SUPER calm out in the Chincoteague Bay. Glassy. We were fortunate to come upon several pods of dolphins which were more than happy to stay right near the boat. We also found a large group of wild ponies (They call it a harem. One stallion with several mares.) along the marsh of Assateague Island. The ponies, too, were all too happy to just stand there eating while we pulled up to them. The ponies are branded on their left hip with the year that they were born.
We were able to see the NASA facilities (both on the mainland and down on Wallops Island). And great views of the backside of the Assateague Light.
We also saw a couple of bald eagles including an immature one. Look for the big bird in the dead tree with white speckles on his chest (and no white head). There also were lots of shore birds checking out the buffet on the oyster grounds.
Oh, and there's an island for sale that already has a house on it!! Check it out! :D
